Pierce, Nathaniel, Hollis, N. H., took up land and made a settlement in about the year 1795, in what was then
the wilds of Huntington. The children of this family were Truman, born 1797, and Melinda, born 1810. Nathaniel
died in the year 1821. Truman married Polly Shattuck December 17, 1823. Their children were Harmon and Abigail.
Harmon died in 1845. Abagail married George Burnham, and had children, viz.: George M., Mary, and Truman Kensie
Dayton. Truman still lives at the advanced age of eighty nine years. He has always been a thrifty farmer, and now
owns about 200 acres of land. He belongs to the society of the Free Will Baptist Church.
