THOMAS EARL PYATT, postmaster at Youngwood, was born in Scottdale, Westmoreland county, August 9, 1882, his
parents being Philo N. and Hattie E. (Strickler) Pyatt. He was reared in his father's home and his earls education,
acquired in the common schools, was supplemented by studs in Iron City College, at Pittsburg. When eighteen years
of age be found employment with the United States Cast Iron Pipe Foundry, and there worked for about a year, when
his parents removed to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and 'he went to Pittsburg, this state, to attend college.
During his college career he worked for' the Union Switch and Signal Company, acting in that capacity at night
and through this means he paid his way through college.
When his education was completed Mr. Pyatt came to Youngwood for a year. working for the railroad nnder John Patterson,
assistant tra.inmaster for the road. He then began working for his father, in whose employ he has since remained.
He is an advocate of Republican principles, and on August 29, 1904. was appointed postmaster of Youngwood, which
position he is nosy acceptably filling. He belongs to the Scottdale Lodge. Arpad Commandery, No 342, K. of M.,
and is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
