ALBERT E. COLLINS. No class is more essential to the wellbeing of any community than that of which Albert F.
Collins, of Scottdale, is a worthy representative. The father of Mr. Collins, John Collins, was a native of Scotland,
and in 1888 emigrated to the United States, settling in Youngstown, Ohio. He remained there one year, working at
his trade, which was that of a sheet roller, and then moved to Scottdale, where he followed his trade until about
a year before his death, when he was appointed superintendent of the old McDow mill, a position which he retained
during the remainder of his life. For a number of years he was a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Collins married,
before leaving his native country, Sarah M. Green, and their children were: Frederick, died in infancy; Arthur
F., a roller in Pittsburg; Sarah A., wife of George Skidmore; Albert F.. mentioned hereafter; Thomas, resides in
Pittsburg; Ada, wife of William Stowe, of Ohio; Elizabeth A., a trained nurse; Flora, wife of Roy Bryner; and Harriet
A. Mrs. Collins died in 1897, and her husband passed away May, 1902.
Albert E. Collins, son of John and Sarah M. (Green) Collins, was born October 16, 1871, in Scotland, where he was
educated in the common schools. In 1889 he came to the United States and settled in Scottdale, where he has ever
since been employed as a sheet roller in the same mill in which he first found work on his arrival in the place.
This fact alone speaks volumes for his ability and integrity. He is a member of the American Insurance Union, and
belongs to the M. W. of A., No. 9779, and the R. of M., both of Scottdale. He is a member of the Baptist church,
of Scottdale. Mr. Collins married Gertrude, daughter of John and Anna (Jordan) Musher, and they have three children:
Edna M., born July 12, 1895; Wilbert, born July 3, 1899; and Harold, born May 2, 1904, died August 3, 1905.
