A. MELLANDER, merchant, Mount Jewett, is a native of Sweden, born April 1, 1852. He lived in his native country
until sixteen years of age, when he came to the United States, and in 1871 located near the present site of Mount
Jewett, working on a farm and in the lumber camps. In 1881 he started the first store in the town, and has been
a successful merchant, owning the building where he carries on his business, and which is well adapted to his needs.
He also owns a large saw mill at Mount Jewett, and is extensively engaged in the lumber business. Mr. Mellander
was married, February 13, 1882, to Miss Huldah W. Burling.
