Albert E. Nash, a veteran of the World War, is a reliable and substantial young business man of Erie, where
he is proprietor of the Erie Book store. He is a native of England, born at Bristol, March 7, 1891, and the son
of Thomas and Edith (Collins) Nash.
Thomas Nash, who now lives retired in England, was a railroader during his active career and was employed as a
freight agent. He and his wife are the parents of the following children: Harold, Rose, Jessie, Robert and Arthur,
all of whom live in England; and Albert E., the subject of this sketch.
Albert E. Nash grew to manhood in England and was educated in the schools there. At the age of 19 years he came
to this country and lived in Schenectady, N. Y., where he entered the employ of the General Electric Company. in
October, 1921, he resigned his position with this company as electrical engineer and purchased the Harris Book
Store in Erie, which is now known as the Erie Book Store. Mr. Nash carries a complete line of books, magazines,
and greeting cards, and also has a large circulating library. The shop is located at 17 East 8th Street.
On Aug. 27, 1913, Mr. Nash was united in marriage with Miss Olive Ellis, of Kent, England, born Dec. 31, 1888,
and the daughter of James and Harriet (Dunce) Ellis, natives of England. Mr. Ellis died at Marden, England, and
his wife died in Schenectady, N. Y.
During the World War Mr. Nash volunteered for service and was in France with Evacuation Hospital No. 6. He was
personally cited for meritorious service by General Pershing, after having taken part in the following engagements:
Aisne Marne offensive; Aisne Marne defensive; Saint Mihiel; Meuse Argonne; Chateau Thierry.
Mr. and Mrs. Nash are active members of St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Lawrence Park, Erie, both being Sunday school
teachers. He is affiliated with the Masonic lodge, Knights of Pythias, Elks lodge, and American Legion and Veterans
of Foreign Wars.
