JAMES B. PAIGE, farmer, P. O. Lincolnville, was born May 6, 1842, in Wyoming Counly, N. Y., son of Isaac W.
and Hannah (Torrey) Paige. After the death of his wife, May 6, 1870, Mr. Paige came here and lived with his son,
James B., until his death, which occurred October 1, 1881. During the late Rebellion our subject enlisted October
9, 1861, in the Ninth Regiment New York Volunteer Cavalry and served in the Army of the Potomac. He received a
severe wound, a ball passing entirely through his body at Cedar Creek, Va., October 19, 1864. He made a brilliant
record as a brave and faithful soldier, and was mustered out with an honorable discharge July, 1865. After the
war Mr. Paige came to this township, and Februarv 14, 1869, married Cynthia A. Potter. Their children are: Lavinia
D. and Marvin J. Mr. Paige by industry has acquired an estate comprising about 270 acres of well improved land.
He has filled various local and township offices; takes great interest in the cause of education. In politics he
is a stanch Republican.
