CYRUS C. MARSH, farmer, P. O. Union City, Erie County, was born in Humphrey, Cattaraugus Co., N. Y., November
28, 1830, son of Danforth and Minerva Marsh, who both died in New York. They were parents of seven sons and two
daughters, now prosperous citizens scattered all over the country from New York to Nebraska. Five of the sons served
in the Union Army during the late Rebellion, all returning home safely. Our subject came to Bloomfield Township,
this county, in 1853; was married July 25, 1855, to Fannie A. Wescott, of Chautauqua County, N. Y., and. has the
following named children: George Danforth, Rush Duane, Fred Carter. In 1856 Mr. and Mrs. Marsh settled on their
present farm, and by their industry have acquired an estate consisting of 300 acres of well improved land. They
are consistent members of the United Brethren Church, and are interested in the cause of education, and in all
efforts conducive to the mental and moral growth of the community. Mr. Marsh is a Republican in politics; has held
various local and township offices. During the late war he enlisted, February 29, 1864, in the Sixthteenth Regiment
Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry, and served in the Army of the Potomac under Gen. P. H. Sheridan. He participated
in eighteen different engagements, and was honorably discharged August 11. 1865, with the rank of Sergeant.
