ALEXANDER FINDLEY, farmer, P. O. Custard's, was born in Chautauqua County, N. Y., January 19, 1827, and is a
son of Russell and Nancy (Barry) Findley, natives, former of Pennsylvania, latter of Ireland. They were of mature
age when they settled in the State of New York, and eight of their ten children were born in that State, one of
the remaining two being born on the farm where orr subject now resides. They came from New York to this county
in 1841, settling on a farm. Eight of their children grew to maturity, of whom Alexander is the only one now in
this county. The father died in 1865; the mother died in 1855. Our subject received his education mostly in New
York State; has farmed all his life, and now owns the wellimproved farm of 125 acres on which he has lived since
1841. He was married in 1875 to Jane, daughter of George Miller, a farmer of this State, and of German Dutch descent.
They have four children: George R. Francis A., L. L. Davis and James Carson. Mrs. Findley is a member of the Methodist
Episcopal Church. In his political views Mr. Findley is Democratic. He has been School Director and Clerk and Treasurer
of tnion Township.
