George I. Keener, who is a member of the firm of C. H. McMullen & Company, is one of the well known and
successful business men of Johnstown. He was born in Johnstown, Sept. 27, 1874, and is the son of N. N. and Liza
Ann (Freeland) Keener.
N. N. Keener was a widely known educator of Cambria County and for a number of years was principal of schools in
Johnstown. He died in 1884 and Mrs. Keener died in 1920.
George I. Keener received his early education in the public schools of Blairsville. He entered the employ of the
Pennsylvania Railroad and after a few years went to the Adams Express Company, where he was for seven years manager
of the Johnstown office. He was then promoted to supervising agent of the Adams Express, which responsible position
he held until 1917. He then formed a partnership with C. H. McMullen.
On April 4, 1905, Mr. Keener was united in marriage with Miss Wilda Seegar, a daughter of J. W. and Susan Seegar
of Pittsburgh, Pa., and they have three children: Susan Jane, Betty Ann, and Wilda Ruth. Their home is at 422 Napoleon
Street.
Mr. Keener is a Democrat and a member of the Blue Lodge of Masons.
C. H. McMullen & Company was established in 1917. They carry a complete line of high grade leather goods, trunks,
bags, etc., and is the leading store of its kind in Johnstown and has an excellent trade. The store is located
at 426 Washington Street.
