A. A. Custer, proprietor of the Custer Pharmacy, 410 Messenger Street, Homestown, Johnstown, is among the prominent
young business men of this city. He was born in Greensburg, Pa., Aug. 9, 1896, and is a son of John B. and Jessie
John B. Custer was born in Somerset County, Pa. He learned the carpenter's trade and later worked on the Pennsylvania
Railroad. In Johnstown he went into the contracting business, building houses, and is now living in York, Pa.,
where he is engaged in this work. Mr. Custer is a Republican and a member of the Evangelical Church. Mrs. Custer
was born in Armstrong County, Pa.
A. A. Custer was educated in the public schools of Johnstown and Cambria Business College. While a student at Ohio
Northern University he was a member of the Students Army Training Corps. In 1919 he was graduated from the University
of Pittsburgh. He began his business career as a drug clerk in the Farrell & Kredel Company, Johnstown, spent
three years as manager of the Palace Drug Company at Windber, Pa., and on Nov. 22, 1925, he established his present
business. Mr. Custer carries a high grade line of drugs, confections, gifts, and tobaccos. He also has a soda grill
in connection with his store.
In 1918 Mr. Custer was married to Miss Della Replogle, a daughter of I. D. and Florence (Cover) Replogle, a sketch
of whom will be found elsewhere in this history. To Mr. and Mrs. Custer two children have been born: Ray Clyde,
born April 13, 1921; and Dorothy Ruth.
Mr. Custer is a Republican, a member of the L. O. O. M. at Windber, Pa., F. O. E., Windber, and the Pennsylvania
Pharmaceutical Association. Mr. and Mrs. Custer are members of the Evangelical Church and have a wide circle of
friends and acquaintances.
