Harry R. Crawford, druggist, who ranks among the leading young business men of Beaverdale, is a veteran of the
World war. He was born at Youngstown, Pa., Jan. 6, 1895, and is the son of Daniel B. and Anna (Davison) Crawford.
Daniel B. Crawford, deceased, was born at Tippecanoe, Pa., and was a brick contractor His widow lives at Swissvale,
Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford had two children: Harry R., the subject of this sketch; and Essie, married J. L. McCartney,
lives at Swissvale, Pa.
Harry R. Crawford was reared and educated at Swissvale, and attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied
pharmacy and from which he was graduated in 1917. On May 27, 1917, he volunteered for service in the World war.
He was attached to Base Hospital No. 27, and saw active service in France. After his discharge in April, 1919,
Mr. Crawford was employed in a drug store at Swissvale, where he remained until September, 1921. He has been owner
of the Cambria Drug Store at Beaverdale since 1921, and is one of the well known and capable prescription specialists
in this section.
On June 16, 1917, Mr. Crawford was married to Miss Elsie R. Carson, the daughter of James and Ethel (Townsend)
Carson, residents of Perryopolis, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford have four children: Shirley Ann, Betty Jane, James
Barclay, and Helen Frances.
Mr. Crawford is a Republican, a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Masonic and Moose lodges, and Kappa Psi
