Cambria County, PA Biographies





F. E. Cooper, owner of the F. E. Cooper Lumber Company, is a highly esteemed and well known business man of Johnstown. He was born at Rockwood, Pa., Oct. 24, 1887, and is the son of C. G. and Rose (Dietz) Cooper.

F. E. Cooper received his education in the public schools of Johnstown and at an early age became interested in the lumber business. In 1920 he organized the F. E. Cooper Lumber Company, wholesale and manufacturing lumber dealers. Saw mills are owned and operated by the company in Cambria, Bedford, Somerset and Indiana Counties, where large timber tracts are owned.

On Oct. 5, 1915, Mr. Cooper was united in marriage with Miss Nelle Shaffer of Johnstown, the daughter of N. D. and Matilda (Foust) Shaffer. They have a son, Richard F., born in 1916.

Mr. Cooper is a Republican, a member of the Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge and Kiwanis Club. He is well known throughout Cambria County, where he is esteemed as a man of progress, industry and initiative.
