Biography of Robert L. Claycomb

Robert L. Claycomb is an enterprising young business man of Johnstown, where he is owner of the Claycomb Floral Shop. He was born at Windber, Pa., May 30, 1903, and is a son of John F. and Etta M. (Young) Claycomb.

John F. Claycomb, deceased, was born in Bedford County, Pa., March 29, 1873. He learned the painter's trade when a young man and later established his own business at Windber as a painting contractor. He removed to Johnstown in 1909 and continued his business in this city until his death, which occurred on Dec. 12, 1925. In 1899 he was married to Etta M. Young, a native of Indiana County. To this union two children were born: Margaretta Grace, married Fred C. Grantham, resides in Johnstown, where he is with the Bethlehem Steel Company; and Robert L., the subject of this sketch.

Robert L. Claycomb was educated in the public schools in Ferndale, Pa., and graduated from the Ferndale High School in 1919, and Penn State College in 1925. Mr. Claycomb then came to Johnstown and established his present business. He handles everything in the florist line and carries a large and beautiful stock of cut flowers, potted flowers and plants, and is meeting with deserved success His attractive shop is located at 221 Market Street.

Mr. Claycomb is a member of the Theta Upsilon Omega fraternity, in which he has served as past master and past junior counselor of the fraternity; the Calumet and American Business Club.
