R. E. Brown, plumbing and heating contractor, is among the progressive young business men of Johnstown. He was
born in this city, Jan. 1, 1894, and is the son of F. J. and Agnes LaVerta (Hill) Brown.
F. J. Brown is a native of Cambria County, as is his wife. He has been identified with the Bethlehem Steel Company
for a number of years.
R. E. Brown spent his boyhood in Johnstown and attended the public schools. He began his business career in the
employ of the Penn Traffic Company, where he remained for four years, after which he learned the plumbing trade
with Fred Ringler, of Johnstown, with whom he was employed for more than three years. He then was connected with
the Johnstown Supply Company, the Cambria Plumbing & Heating Company, Kern & Turby, Richards Plumbing &
Heating Company, and Park & Brown. The present business, R. E. Brown & Company, was established in 1924
and ranks among the reliable business houses of the city.
On Nov. 17, 1915, Mr. Brown was united in marriage with Miss Iberta May Campbell, the daughter of Amos and Mary
Elizabeth (Makin) Campbell, of Johnstown. Mr. and Mrs. Brown have two daughters: Dorothi Evelyn, born March 4,
1917; and Zelma Mae, born Sept. 25, 1920.
In politics Mr. Brown is identified with the Republican party. He and his family hold membership in the Church
of the Brethren. They live at 210 Barron Avenue, Johnstown.
