Dr. Alfred W. Brinham, physician and surgeon, who has successfully engaged in the practice of his profession
at Scalp Level for more than 20 years, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born in Somerset County, Oct. 20, 1880,
and is the son of M. F. and Milanda (Wilmoth) Brinham.
M. F. Brinham, deceased, was born at Wellersburg, Pa. For many years he engaged in the general mercantile business
at Glencoe, Pa. He is now deceased. His widow resides at Windber. Mr. and Mrs. Brinham had three children: Alfred
W., the subject of this sketch; Filmore, and Randolph.
Dr. Alfred W. Brinham attended the public schools of Somerset County and was graduated from Cumberland (Md.) High
School. He received his degree as Doctor of Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, in
1905, spent the following year as an interne at Mercy Hospital, Baltimore, after which he established his practice
at Scalp Level. Dr. Brinham is vice president of the Miners and Merchants Bank, Scalp Level.
On Jan. 29, 1913, Dr. Brinham was united in marriage with Miss Wilhelmina Meyer, the daughter of Philip J. and
Emily (Elrick) Meyer, both deceased. The Meyer family were residents of Wellersburg, Pa. Dr. and Mrs. Brinham have
two daughters, Mary and Margaret.
Dr. Brinham is identified with the Cambria County Medical Society, Pennsylvania State Medical Society and the American
Medical Association. He is a Republican, holds membership in the Lutheran Church, and is affiliated with F. and
A. M. No. 538, Johnstown; Consistory, Pittsburgh; and Jaffa Temple, Altoona. Dr. Erinham is one of Cambria County's
broad minded and public spirited citizens.
