L. A. Bosserman, the competent and well known postmaster of Barnesboro, is a native of East Berlin, Adams County, Pa., born June 10, 1883, a son of Amos F. and Sarah Jane (Mummert) Bosserman.

Amos F. Bosserman was born at East Berlin, Pa., June 5, 1856. He was married in 1878 to Sarah Jane Mummert, who was born in 1858 at Bermudian, Adams County, Pa. She died in 1925 and is buried at East Berlin. Mr. Bosserman followed general farming his entire life and is now living on his farm at East Berlin. He has always taken an active interest in civic affairs and has held the office of school director, tax collector, and politically is a Republican. To Amos F. and Sarah Jane (Mummart) Bosserman three sons were born: Clayton, married Mary Criswell, lives at York, Pa.; Harper, married Mary Rhodes, lives at York, Pa.; and L. A., the subject of this sketch.

L. A. Bosserman was reared in East Berlin, where he attended the public schools and the Shippenberg Normal School, after which he engaged in teaching school for two years. In 1919 he came to Barnesboro as manager for the Hoveren Company, where he remained for six years, until 1922, when he was appointed postmaster.

Mr. Bosserman was married June 21, 1921, to Miss Bula McAnulty, a daughter of Frank and One McAnulty. The father died in 1922 and is buried in Barnesboro and Mrs. McAnulty resides with her children in the old home in Barnesboro. Mrs. Bosserman graduated from the Indiana Normal School and before her marriage taught school for five years in the Barnesboro public schools. Mr. and Mrs. Bosserman have one son, William, born Dec. 17, 1922.

Mr. and Mrs. Bosserman are members of the Presbyterian Church. He is a director of the Citizens Bank, secretary and treasurer of the Star Printing Company, and has served on the Barnesboro council. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ebensburg, and the Elks of Henderson, Ky., and is a highly respected and dependable citizen.
