JOHN M. UPDEGRAFF youngest son of Casper and Ann E. (Trego) Updegraff, was born in the home where he now resides June 20, 1851. He was educated in the district schools, and at the age of ten began dealing somewhat for himself. At the age of fifteen he commenced farming on his own responsibility, and since that time he has been thus engaged. He obtained a portion of the homestead and has since purchased othe? lands till he now owns 160 acres. He resides with his aged mother and does a good farming business, keeping good stock, doing more or less trading, buying, selling, etc. He is a thorough farmer, a good citizen and a Democrat in politics. He also makes a specialty of breeding Merino sheep and Almont and Hambletonian horses.
