DAVID TURNER, farmer, P. 0. Somerford, was born in Clark County, Ohio, October 1, 1826. He is the son of William
and Lydia (James) Turner, natives of Maryland, of German descent. The former was a wagon maker, and died at the
residence of our subject in 1876. David received a common school education, and, being of a mechanical turn of
mind, soon partially acquired the trade of his father, which, however, he never followed. He rented land for a
time, but now owns a place of his own. He was married in 1850, to Margaret Cornwell, a daughter of Addison Cornwell.
By this union seven children were born, viz.: J., May Ellen, J. W., Eliza J., Viola, Charles and Florence May.
Mr. Turner is a Republican, and his wife is a member of the Christian Church. He was the seventh child of a family
of eight children.
