JOHN SCOTT, farmer, P, 0, Plain City, was born in Logan County, Ohio, July 14, 1836. He is a son of William
and Emily Scott; the former was born in Ohio in 1814, and is still living; the latter was born in Virginia in 1816,
and died in 1847, Samuel Scott, the grandfather of our subject, located in Ross County in 1800, Our subject received
but an ordinary schooling, and has made farming the occupation of his life, He owns nearly ninety acres of land
where he resides, which he has made by his personal efforts, He is a warm advocate of prohibition, and an earnest
supporter of every work of reform, In 1862, he enlisted in the Third Ohio Battery, participated in the battle of
Pittsburg Landing, and soon after was discharged on account of disability, In 1863. he married Rachel J, Green,
a native of Logan County, and a daughter of George R, and Ruth (Williams) Green, natives of the South. This union
was blessed with three children - Emily, McKinley and Elizabeth, Mr. and Mrs, Scott are members of the M. E. Church,
in which he has been Steward, class leader and Trustee. He is also an active worker in the Sabbath schools.
