R. MOONEY, merchant, Plain City, was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, March 4, 1850, and is the son of Jacob
and Rosanna (Winters) Mooney, natives of Ohio, of Irish descent. Our subject was raised on a farm, and followed
farming until 1876, when he engaged in his present business in Plain City. He was married, in 1872, to Electa Lane,
by whom he had two children - Ida and Walter. Mrs. Mooney died in 1876, and, on June 20, 1877, he married Emily
Bigelow, a daughter of Dr. D. K. Bigelow, and by her has one child - Otto. Mr. Mooney is a Democrat of the old
Jacksonian school. He is a prominent member of the Masonic order, of the Scottish Rite degree. He is a thorough
and successful business man, and stands high in the community where he lives.
