Henry Stautzenbach, conducting a general commercial agency, handling real estate and commercial paper in Toledo,
was born in this city July 3, 1861, and is a son of Jacob and Catherine (Dash) Stautzenbach, the former a well
known brewer of the early day. The son obtained a public school education and as he approached young manhood secured
a position as credit man with a merchandise house. For twelve years he was associated with Judge Sala and in 1906
he became interested in a general commercial agency, handling real estate and commercial paper. He is thoroughly
familiar with property values and all kinds of bonds and other commercial paper and his judgment is at all times
regarded as sound and reliable. Re has likewise figured prominently in connection with public affairs of the city.
For ten years he was a member of the board of trustees of the Toledo Workhouse and for five years acted as president
of the board. His position upon vital public questions is never an equivocal one. He stands ioyaliy in support
of any cause which he. espouses and his endorsement of a measure is always sure to secure to it further support
because of his popularity and his influence.
In September, 1885, Mr. Stautzenbach was married to Miss Cora E. Spayd of Toledo and they have become parents of
three children: Harry S., who is a commission merchant; Nellie, now Mrs. Charles Ayres of Toledo; and Mabel. Mr.
Stautzenbach belongs to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, also to the Loyal Order of Moose, the Rangers, the Loyal
Order of Lions, Woodmen of the World, German Beneficial Union, and the German Hausen Benevolent Society, being
widely and favorably known to the membership of these different organizations. His advance in the business world
has been won through the wise use of the opportunities that have come to him and the steady development of his
inherent powers. Mr. Stautzenbach has resided at No. 1634 Western avenue since 1900.
