Henry August Marti, one of the organizers of the Maumee Malleable Castings Company, and its treasurer from the
beginning, was born in Ottawa Lake, Michigan on the 9th of October, 1885, a son of Jacob and Anna (Klosterhour)
Marti. The father devoted his attention to agricultural pursuits and Henry A. Marti was rearec on the home farm.
His educational opportunities were those afforded by the public schools and he started out in the business world
as an office boy in the employ of the Gendron Wheel Company at Toledo. He afterward spent eight years in the capacity
of railroad clerk and in 1914 became associated with the United States Malleable Casting Company. thus gaining
intimate knowledge of a business along the line of which he continues. After two years spent in: that connection
he became one of the organizers, in 1916, of the Maumee Malleable Castings Company and was chosen treasurer upon
its organIzation. In the six years. of its existence the company has prospered, building up a business of gratifying
proportions. Mr. Marti is also the vice president of the Ohio Savings Association, being chosen to that office
on its reorganization in 1920.
On the 8th of July, 1908, was éelebrated the marriage of Henry August Marti and Miss Sophia M. Vick of Toledo
and they are now parents of two children, Theone Louise and Dcnald Vick. Mr. Marti is a member of Calumet Lodge,
No, 612, F. & A. M.; Port Lawrence Chapter, No. 176. R. A. M.; Vistüla Council, No. 108, R. & S. M.;
and Eu-Tah Commandery, No. 66, Knights Templars He is also identified with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.
He belongs to the Chamber of Commerce and also to the East Side Chamber of Commerce and heartily cooperates with
those organizaticns in the systematized effort to improve business conditions, to extend trade re!ations and to
maintain high standards of civic virtue and of civic activity.
