BENJAMIN F. TAYLOR, who died in 1887, was one of the most versatile writers who went forth from Cleveland. During
the Civil war, as a newspaper correspondent at the front, he left such graphic and enduring pic.tures as' "Mission
Ridge" and "Lookout Mountain" and "Pictures of Life in Camp and Field." His exquisite
sketches of nature were represented by "Summer Savory," "January and June" and "November
Days." A character etching was "Theophilus Trent," and he was also author of "Taylor's Poetical
Works."
