William E. Warren. Numbered among the representative members of the bar of Columbiana County is William E. Warren,
who is successfully engaged in the practice of law at Leetonia. He was born in Middleton Township, Columbiana County,
March 7, 1865, the son of John B. and Lucy (Underwood) Warren.
John B. Warren, deceased, was a veteran of the Civil War. He was a native of Little Bolton, Lancashire, England,
and migrated to the United States in 1857. In September, 1861, Mr. Warren enlisted in Company D, 19th Ohio Volunteer
Infantry, and took an active part in the war until 1863 when he was discharged on account of physical disability.
Mr. Warren was for many years a successful farmer of Middleton Township. There were eight children in the Warren
family, as follows: Hannah, married Emmett Farr; Mary, married John Kaminsky, lives at Salem; Joseph, a farmer,
lives in Fairfield Township; William E., the subject of this sketch; Lola, married Jonas Moreland; Zula, deceased,
was the wife of James Kridler; Walter, chief of police of East Palestine; and Effie Gilmore, lives at Lisbon.
William E. Warren was educated in the common schools of Columbiana County and attended Mt. Hope Academy, Rogers,
Ohio, and Cincinnati, Ohio, Law School. He read law in the office of C. S. Speaker, Lisbon. He was admitted to
the bar of Ohio June 5, 1890, and to the United States District and Circuit Courts, Oct. 12, 1898. He has engaged
in the practice of law in Leetonia since that time and from 1893 until 1914 served as city solicitor. He also served
as post master of Leetonia from July 1, 1914 to March 10, 1920. Mr. Warren was appointed Referee in Bankruptcy,
Columbiana County, Nov. 1, 1920.
On Jan. 12, 1890, Mr. Warren was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Fife, and they have a daughter, Pauline
M., born Aug. 18, 1892. She married Clarence Bowser, and lives in Detroit, Mich. They have two children, Elizabeth
and William. Mrs. Bowser was educated in the public schools of Leetonia, Mt. Union College and Ohio State University.
Mr. Warren is a Democrat and is affiliated with the Knights of Pythias and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He
ranks among the prominent and influential citizens of the community.
