Dr. Friend Trader, one of the well known younger physicians of Columbiana County, who is successfully engaged
in the practice of his profession at Columbiana, is a veteran of the World War. He was born at New Martinsville,
W. Va., Sept. 18, 1897, and is a son of Wilfred and Adeline (Briggs) Trader.
Wilfred Trader, was born at Proctor, W. Va. He engaged in general farming and stock raising during his life and
died at New Martinsville, W. Va., in 1921. His wife died in 1918. Friend, the subject of this sketch, was their
Doctor Friend Trader was reared and educated at Bellaire, Ohio, and after his graduation from Mount Union College
he entered the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his degree as Doctor of Medicine in 1923. He engaged
in the practice of his profession at Salem with Doctor Yaggi until Feb. 24, 1925, when he removed to Columbiana,
as successor to Doctor J. A. Mellon's practice.
On June 18, 1923, Doctor Trader was united in marriage with Miss Genevieve Ann Mannix, of Pittsburgh, a daughter
of John and Margaret Manned. Before her marriage Mrs. Trader was a nurse. She is a graduate of the McKeesport (Pa.)
During the World War Dr. Trader was commissioned captain in the Reserve Officers Training Corps and was stationed
at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He is a Republican and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. As a physician, surgeon
and citizen, Doctor Trader ranks high in the community.
