Charles J. Spatholt has for many years been a prominent and successful business man of Leetonia, where he is
engaged in the hardware business. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, Feb. 17, 1862, and is a son of Charles and Mary
(Gasser) Spatholt. Mr. Spatholt was a building contractor at Youngstown, Ohio, and is now deceased.
Charles J. Spatholt attended the public schools of Youngstown and in 1895 established his present business in Leetonia,
in partnership with his brother, John, who retired from the business in 1906. The Spatholt Hardware Company is
among Leetonia's well established businesses and has been in its present location since February, 1925. They are
dealers in hardware, electrical and automobile supplies, paints and oils, and also conduct a tin shop.
On Nov. 9, 1887, Mr. Spatholt was married to Miss Minnie Smith, and they have three children: Fred G.; Jeanette
Louise, was graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1924; and Arthur J. Both of Mr. Spatholt's sons
are associated in business with him.
Mr. Spatholt is a Republican, a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church and belongs to the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis
Club, and the Business Men's Club of Leetonia. He is well known and highly respected throughout the community where
he has spent so many years.
