Clarence L. Snediker is a progressive and enterprising merchant of Wellsville, where he is engaged in the grocery
and transfer business. He was born at Wheeling, W. Va., Aug. 3, 1873, and is a son of Samuel and Mary (McClaren)
Snediker.
Samuel Snediker, deceased, was born at Wellsburg, W. Va. He was an early settler of Wheeling and in 1888 removed
to Wellsville where he successfully conducted a grocery business until 1905, at which time he retired and disposed
of his business to his son, Clarence L. Mr. Snediker was a Republican, a member of the Methodist Church and served
as justice of the peace. His wife, a native of Wellsville, is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Snediker had four children:
Charles H., engaged in the grocery business at Wellsville; W. A., an attorney, died in 1923; Clarence L., the subject
of this sketch; and Maud, married W. R. Lamson, lives retired in Wellsville.
Clarence L. Snediker was educated in Wellsville and at an early age became interested In his father's grocery business,
which he has conducted for more than 20 years.
On Feb. 24, 1894, Mr. Snediker was married to Miss Emma E. Peake, who was born in East Liverpool, Aug. 25, 1875,
the daughter of John H. and Emma Elizabeth (Moore) Peake, natives of England, and pioneers of East Liverpool. Mr.
Peake died Aug. 28, 1924, and his wife died in 1894. They had three children: John H., lives in East Liverpool;
Mrs. Snediker; and William B., lives in Flint, Mich. To Mr. and Mrs. Snediker have been born five children: Helen,
married L. R. Mackey, lives in East Liverpool; John Emerson, lives in Akron, Ohio, is a veteran of the World War;
Harold M., Olive Elizabeth and Carl Wilbur, all at home. There are four grandchildren: Juanita and Phyllis Mackey;
John and Harold Snediker.
Mr. Snediker is a Republican, and a member of the Methodist Church.
