Errwood Slater, a well known business man of Leetonia and substantial citizen of Columbiana County, is a native
of England. He was born at Lancashire, June 9, 1872, the son of Thomas and Ann (Andrew) Slater.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Slater were natives of England, where they spent their entire lives. He died in 1897 and
his wife died. in 1913. They were the parents of 13 children, four of whom are now living, as follows: Lees and
Andrew, who live in England; Lilly, the widow of Jack Savage, lives at Lancaster, Pa.; and Errwood, the subject
of this sketch.
Errwood Slater was reared and educated in England and engaged in the meat business with his father until 1893,
at winch time he came to the United States. He settled in Salem, Ohio, but after a short time moved to Leetonia,
where he has successfully engaged in business since 1896. He conducts a meat market at 260 Main Street.
On Oct. 8, 1896, Mr. Slater was united in marriage with Miss Janet Bell of Leetonia, a daughter of James and Janet
Bell, both deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Slater had two children who died in infancy.
Mr. Slater is a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Elks Lodge, and Kiwanis
Club. He has always been an energetic man who stands well in the esteem of his neighbors and fellow citizens.
