Samuel B. McClure, of the McClure Builders Supply Company, East Palestine, is among the successful business
men of Columbiana County. He was born on a farm near Clinton, Pa., in 1863, the son of John and Margaret (Battie)
Both John and Margaret (Battier) McClure are deceased. They were natives of Pennsylvania and in 1869 removed to
Columbiana County and settled on a farm four miles west of Columbiana. They are buried in New Waterford Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. McClure had six children as follows: Elizabeth and Ella, both deceased; Jennie; Thomas, lives on the
home place near Columbiana; Samuel B., the subject of this sketch; and Mattie, deceased.
Samuel B. McClure spent his boyhood on his father's farm and attended the district school. In early life he followed
the carpenter trade and later engaged in the lumber business at East Palestine for 30 years. His present business
is among the largest of its kind in the county.
Mr. McClure was united in marriage with Miss Siddie A. Boies, the daughter of James and Hannah Boies, pioneers
of Columbiana County. Mrs. McClure died in November, 1917. To Mr. and Mrs. McClure a son was born, Ernest H., who
is engaged in business with his father. He married Miss Florence Roberts of East Palestine.
Mr. McClure is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He has an extensive acquaintance in the community and
is favorably known.
