Edward W. Holz ranks among the progressive and enterprising business men of Leetonia where he is engaged in
the news and confectionery business. He was born at Columbiana, April 20, 1867, and is the son of Christopher and
Elizabeth (Hinkle) Holz, both deceased.
After completing his schooling in the public schools of Leetonia, Edward W. Holz worked in his father's store.
He is now sole owner of this business, which was established in 1867. Mr. Holz carries a complete line of books,
stationery, sporting goods, confectionery, and has a fine news stand. He also deals in tobaccos and cigars. The
business is located at 267 Front Street.
On Oct. 8, 1896, Mr. Holz was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Karch, the daughter of Jacob and Philamena
Karch, of Leetonia. They have two sons: William E., a graduate of Leetonia High School, Western Reserve University
and Case School of Applied Science, Cleveland, lives at Canton, Ohio, where he is connected with the Ohio Bell
Telephone Company; and Emil C., lives at Leetonia and is superintendent of the city water works.
Politically, Mr. Holz is a Democrat. He has served as a member of the city council for several years and as township
trustee for 18 years and also a member of the board of public affairs. He is a director of the Peoples Savings
& Loan Company and is a substantial citizen of Columbiana County.
