E. G. Heston, who is well and favorably known among the substantial business men of Salem, is a native of Ohio.
He was born at Damascus, Dec. 30, 1881, and is the son of William H. and Margaret (Derr) Heston.
William H. Heston, deceased, was employed by the Buckeye Engine Company of Salem for many years as a pattern maker.
His wife is also deceased.
After completing his schooling at Damascus, E. G. Heston entered the employ of the American Express Company and
the following year became connected with the Pennsylvania Railroad Company at Alliance. After ten years in their
employ he spent three years with the McCaskey Register Company, and was later identified with the Alliance Structural
Company. Since April 1, 1921, Mr. Heston has been part owner and manager of the Oriental Stores Company, Salem.
This business, which was established in 1900, ranks among the leading business houses of the city, and handles
a high grade line of groceries, meats and baked goods. Sixteen people are employed.
On Jan. 4, 1903, Mr. Heston was united in marriage with Miss Margaret S. Donges, of Damascus. They have a son,
George, born Dec. 4, 1904, a graduate of Salem High School.
Mr. Heston is a member of the Christian Science Church, the Masonic Lodge, and Kiwanis Club. He is an independent
voter.
