D. F. Hahn, a well known citizen of Columbiana County, who is extensively engaged in farming and stock raising
in Knox Township, was born on the farm where he resides and is a son of Hiram H. and Elizabeth (Aspey) Hahn.
Hiram H. Hahn was born in Starke County, Ohio, in 1841, the son of Adam Hahn, a pioneer settler of Columbiana County.
Hiram H. Hahn taught school in early life and later became interested in general farming in Knox Township. He served
throughout the Civil War and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He died in 1901 at Homeworth, where
he had lived retired. His wife was born in Columbiana County, May 30, 1844, the daughter of Joshua and Eliza Aspey.
Mr. Aspey was born Dec: 1, 1819, and died Sept. 21, 1888. His wife was born March 31, 1824, and died April 8, 1905.
Mrs. Hiram H. Hahn died Dec. 23, 1911. To Hiram H. and Elizabeth (Aspey) Hahn were born five children: Clara, born
June 18, 1870, died March 3, 1896, was the wife of Ira Kimes; D. F., the subject of this sketch; Allen, born Oct.
31, 1873, married Mary Pentz, lives at Alliance, Ohio; Vernon, born Oct. 20, 1881, married Dora Glass, lives at
Waynesburg, Ohio; and Irma, born Jan. 11, 1884, married Marion Magus, lives near Affiance, Ohio.
D F. Hahn received his education in the schools of Knox Township and Mount Union. He engaged in teaching for 12
years and has been interested in farming and stockraising since 1902. Since 1910 Mr. Hahn has specialized in the
breeding of registered Jersey cattle and owns one of the finest stock farms in Columbiana County. He is vice president
of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau.
In 1893 Mr. Hahn was married to Miss Elizabeth Heastand, who was born in 1876, and died in 1906, leaving four children:
Ralph, born Sept. 13, 1894, a World War veteran, lives at Alliance, Ohio; Gertrude Mildred, born Aug. 20, 1896,
married Russell Fryfogle, lives at Sebring, Ohio, and they have two children, Louise Jane and Russell, Jr.; Clare
Franklin, born Feb. 3, 1898, lives at Alliance, Ohio; and Wade H., born Feb. 18, 1902, lives at Alliance, Ohio.
Mr. Hahn was married the second time to Miss Rose Wallace, who was born in Stark County, Ohio, July 10, 1874. She
died May 13, 1917, leaving four sons: Lynn L., born April 17, 1909, lives at Alliance, Ohio; Clark Clinton, born
Feb. 18, 1911; Dale Dallas, born April 14, 1913; and Glen R., born April 6, 1915. Mr. Hahn was married for the
third time to Miss Nellie McGee, who was born at Hanover, Ohio, Sept. 6, 1875, the daughter of Patrick and Louise
(McCartney) McGee, both deceased. Mr. McGee died May 17, 1917, and his wife died in 1911.
Mr. Hahn is a member of the United Brethren Church and is a Democrat.
