Biography of Edwin H. Detwiler

Edwin H. Detwiler, a prominent business man and highly esteemed citizen of Columbiana, is a native of this city. He was born Oct. 28, 1879, and is the son of Jacob and Susan (Harrold) Detwiler.

Jacob Detwiler, president of The Enterprise Company, Columbiana, is a representative business man of Columbiana County. He established his present business almost 50 years ago, and is a widely known manufacturer of engines, saw mills and special machinery. His wife is deceased. To Mr. and Mrs. Detwiler were born five sons: Edwin H., the subject of this sketch; Elmer, Homer, Norman, and Wilbur.

Edwin H. Detwiler attended the public and high schools of Columbiana, from which he was graduated in 1897. He then went to Philadelphia, where he engaged in the printing business for 18 years. He returned to Columbiana in 1917 and until 1924 was interested in his father's business. He then organized the Acorn Printing Company. Mr. Detwiler does general job printing and specializes in commercial stationery.

Mr. Detwiler was married Nov. 22, 1905, to Miss Sophia Weseman, of Philadelphia, the daughter of George and Fredericka Weseman. Mr. and Mrs. Detwiler have four children: Daniel, Philip, Franklin and Miriam.

Politically, Mr. Detwiler is a Republican, and he and his family hold membership in the Nazarene Church. The Detwiler family has always been representative of the best citizenship in the county.
