Edward J. Dean, superintendent of M. A. Hanna Furnace Company, Leetonia, is among the well known and substantial
citizens of Columbiana County. He was born at Leetonia, Jan. 17, 1877, and is the son of Anthony and Catherine
(Dean) Dean.
Anthony Dean, deceased, was for many years a resident of Leetonia, where he was also identified with the M. A.
Hanna Furnace Company. His wife is also deceased.
Edward J. Dean attended the parochial schools of Leetonia and began his business career as a laborer for the M.
A. Hanna Furnace Company, with whom he has been identified for 32 years. He has served as superintendent since
1913. The local plant employs approximately 130 men.
On Sept. 9, 1904, Mr. Dean was married to Miss Catherine Sheets of Leetonia, the daughter of Louis and Rose Sheets.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean have SiX Sons: Anthony and Edward, students at Notre Dame University; Lawrence, Venard, Eugene
and Paul, all at home.
Mr. Dean is a Democrat, a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is a reliable
and efficient citizen of the community and has the esteem of his fellow citizens.
