Biography of Roger A. Cavanaugh

Roger A. Cavanaugh, one of Leetonia's progressive and successful merchants, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Syracuse, Nov. 18, 1870, and is the son of Daniel E. and Agnes E. (Cavanaugh) Cavanaugh. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cavanaugh, who settled in Columbiana County in 1872, are deceased. He died in 1917 and his wife died in 1907.

R. A. Cavanaugh attended the public schools of East Palestine, Ohio, and has lived in Columbiana County since 1872. With his brother, T. J., he established the present dry goods and clothing business which they conduct at Leetonia in June, 1910. They deal in high grade merchandise exclusively and are highly esteemed business men of the community.

On June 23, 1910, Mr. Cavanaugh was united in marriage with Miss Mary A. Cavanaugh, the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth Cavanaugh, of Leetonia. Mrs. Cavanaugh, deceased, was a sister to Reverend Cavanaugh, president emeritus of Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind. She is buried at Leetonia.

Mr. Cavanaugh is a Democrat and a member of the Catholic Church.
