Biography of E. Walter Berg

E. Walter Berg, a well known garage owner at Washingtonville, is a substantial citizen of Columbiana County. He was born at Alliance, Ohio, Jan. 8, 1893, and is the son of Conrad and Cora (Speilman) Berg. A sketch of Conrad Berg appears elsewhere in this history.

After completing his schooling, E. Walter Berg was employed by the Sheet & Tube Company, Youngstown, Ohio, and spent the following year in Detroit, Mich. After suffering a serious injury in a railroad accident he became interested in the automobile business at Leetonia. Fire destroyed the garage and he then built in Washingtonville. He has the agency there for the Chevrolet automobile and has a well equipped and up to date garage. He also deals in accessories and has an oil ifiling station. Mr. Berg has an annual sale of 150 cars. He opened a Chevrolet sales room in Salem, Dec. 5, 1925, as distributor.

On Dec. 28, 1917, Mr. Berg was united in marriage with Miss Vera Keene, the daughter of William and Amanda Keene, of Franklin Square, Columbiana County. They have three Sons: Floyd, born in 1918; Robert, born in 1920; and Kenneth, born in 1922.

Mr. Berg is a Democrat, a member of the Lutheran Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Elks Lodge, and Kiwanis Club. He has served as township clerk of Salem Township and as a member of the Central Committee.
