Harry G. Arter is among the progressive and successful business men of Lisbon, where he is engaged in the leather
goods business. He was born in this city, May 26, 1879, and is the son of Alpheus and Sarah
(Hamilton) Arter.
Harry G. Arter received his education in the public schools of Lisbon and when a young man learned the harness
making trade in his father's shop. In partnership with his brothers he now conducts the leather goods business,
known as Arter Sons Company, which was founded by his father in 1895.
On Oct. 28, 1905, Mr. Arter was united in marriage with Miss Kittie James of Lisbon, the daughter of Edward and
Mary James. Mr. James died in 1921 and his wife resides in Lisbon. Mr. and Mrs. Arter have a son, Alpheus E., born
May 21, 1910.
Mr. Arter is a Republican, a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Kiwanis Club. He is esteemed throughout
the community as a substantial and reliable citizen.
