DAVID CULP, farmer, P. 0. Elida, is a native of FairEeld County, Ohio, born October 10, 1838, eldest son of
Christian and Elizabeth (Good) Quip, natives of Virginia and Ohio, respectively, and who were married in Fairfield
County, Ohio, and moved with their family to this county in 1851. Christian Culp died January 5, 1883. His widow
still resides in this county. Our subject was married, June 20, 1861, to Miss Nancy Brenneman, of German Township,
this county, a native of Fairfield County, Ohio, daughter of John and Nancy (Grove) Brenneman (both deceased) who
came from Virginia, and were among the first settlers in Fairfield County, Ohio, and who moved to this county about
1854. Mr. and Mrs. Gulp are parents of ten children: John B., Elizabeth A., Emma J., Nancy C., Melinda A., Christian
L., Ella M., Cora M., Martha M. and Sarah E., all now living except Elizabeth A. and Ella M. Mr. Gulp purchased
land in German Township, this county, in 1871, which he has cleared and improved in many ways. He gives considerable
attention to the breeding of Durham cattle, pure bred hogs, etc., etc. He suffered a serious loss a few years since
by fire, but is now in a prosperous condition. He owns 152 acres good land, with excellent buildings. Mr. and Mrs.
Gulp are members of the Mennonite Church.
