COOK F. KIRTLAND was born in Poland, Mahoning county, Ohio, and is forty-four years of age. His education was
received in the common schools of our country.
He was clerking in a store when the California excItement first broke out in 1849, but he then left the store,
and went across the plains to California, where he worked in the mines with success. On his return to Ohio he was
married, and has since been living on a farm.
During the war of the Rebellion Mr. Kirtland was a member of the County Military Committee of his county.
He is, and always has been, a Republican.
He was elected to the House of Representatives of Ohio in the fall of 1871, and is a member of the standing committees
on Insurance, Mines and Mining, and Fees and Salaries.
Mr. Kirtland we find to be a first-class gentleman.
