Wixom, Bradford S., son of Shubal and Charlotte (DeKay) Wixom, was born August 19, 1832, in Prattsburgh, Steuben
County, N. Y., and was educated in the common schools and Franklin Academy, of his native town. He began his career
as school teacher in 1850. In 1858 he married Helen E., daughter of the late Samuel Graham, and in 864. moved to
Italy, Yates County, and engaged in farming. He was supervisor of the town in 1868-69-70, the last year serving
as chairman of the board of supervisors; was undersheriff of the county in 1872, having been appointed to that
position by John L. Dinturff, then sheriff He was school commissioner of the county during the years 1873-74 and
1875, since which time he has been justice of the peace, having been reelected each succeeding four years. He also
served two years as justice of sessions. Politically he has been identified with the Republican party, having cast
his first vote for the electors of John C. Fremont. Mr. and Mrs. Wixom have two sons and one daughter, Charles
F., of Buffalo, N. Y.; Jessie H., now of Rochester, N. Y.; and Claude H., now on the farm in Italy.
