Powlison, Newton, of Barrington, a native of Troy, Pa., was born June 7, 1842, a son of Edward and Pluma (Merritt)
Powlison, the former of New Jersey, the latter of Pennsylvania. Edward Powlison was a wagonmaker by trade. He was
married in Pennsylvania and had one son, Newton. He moved from Pennsylvania to New York in 1851 and settled in
Dundee, where he worked at his trade until his death in 1863. His widow still survives him and is living with her
son. Newton Powlison married, in 1862, Frankie Coons, born in June, 1844. He owns a farm of ninety six acres, at
Barrington, and both he and his wife are members of the Baptist Church.
