Pepper, James, son of William and Mariah (Mee) Pepper, was born in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, England, February
28, 1841. He came to Benton, N. Y., in 1863, and remained there about four years. He then came to this town, and
in 1874 bought t00 acres on Bluff Point, where he has been a successful fruit grower. In politics he is a Republican.
His family are members of the M. E. Church at Bluff Point. He married first Mary Joynes, of Nottingham, England,
and their children were Annie, who married Cyrus J. Thayer; James H., who married Myrtle E. Cole; Alonzo, Jessie
E. and Mabel. Mrs. Pepper died June 1875, and for his second wife Mr. Pepper married Celestià Campbell,
of Jerusalem.
