Haines, Egbert, born in Putnam County in the town of Southeast, January 5, 1824, was the son of Edmund and Sarah
Haines. He lived for a time in Chenango County, but in January, 1854, went to Torrey, Yates County. In 1881 Mr.
Haines bought an excellent location near Penn Yan, and since that time has made his home at the latter place. On
December 14, 1846, he married Amelia Townsend. They have no children. Both are members of the Baptist Church at
Benton.
