Willoughby, S. E., was born in the city of St. Albans, near London, England, April 18, 1826, came to Clyde from
London in 1848, and having learned the painter's trade, established the same business in Clyde, the firm in London
keeping the position open for him if he should determine to return to England. For forty years the house has been
the leading decorators in Wayne county, and is now carrying a large and fine stock of wall paper and house furnishing
goods. At the age of twenty four, subject married Mapelet, daughter of Jeremiah Finck. He is one of the oldest
merchants in the town, taking an active interest in educational and religious matters.
