Wager, D. M., son of the late Alfred and Gertrude E. Wager, was born at Amsterdam September 1, 1847. At that
time Alfred Wager was a grocer at Amsterdam, but in 1853 purchased a farm in Galen. His success in life, which
was marked, was without doubt largely due to his unsullied personal integrity, and to the honest and straightforward
character of his business methods; qualities almost widely ascribed also to the subject of the sketch. His death
occurred September 8, 1893, at the age of seventyeight, and that of Gertrude his wife, a few months preceding.
D. M. Wager married March 4, 1872, Ella, daughter of William Sheldon, of Huron, widely known as an inventor of
several patent mechanical appliances for farm use. Widely known and esteemed throughout eastern Wayne, his name
a synonym for good fellowship and unassuming integrity, such is D. M. Wager, of Wolcott.
