Myers, J. C., was born in the canton of Arragh, Switzerland, and came to the United States in 1854, at six years
of age. His father, Francis Myers. came direct to Lyons. J. C. was educated in the common schools, and is preeminently
a self made and self educated man. At the age of twenty eight he married Emma Baltzel, daughter of Henry Baltzel
of Lyons, and they have five children: Nelton Newell, Belle, Frances and Florence. In 1870 he came to the village
of Lyon; and in 1884 established the hardware and agricultural implements, feeds and produce business. He is a
Democrat in politics, and was a candidate for county treasurer in 1889, also takes an active intelligent interest
in educational and religious matters. Subject is one of the leading business men in his town, identified in advancing
its best interests, and is recognized as a man of strict integrity and sterling worth.
