Knapp, Allen, born in Walworth January 29, 1826, is the son of Charles and Mary Knapp. The grandfather was Caleb
Knapp, a native of Connecticut, who came to Marion in a very early day and died on the farm he settled. He was
a weaver by trade. Charles Knapp was born in Marion in 1800, and educated in the common schools. He followed farming,
resided in Chautauqua county seven years, and finally settled in Walworth, where he died in 1870. Subject was reared
on a farm, and has always followed farming. He owns seventy five acres of land in Marion, having sold a part of
the farm he owned. He came to Marion in 1886, and has since lived a retired life. Mr. Knapp married September 6,
1848, Caroline Shaw, a native of Marion, born April 10, 1831, by whom he has had one son, Miles Knapp, a farmer
of Palmyra. He married Malissa Bristol, of Lansing, Mich. Mrs. Knapp died March 10, 1894.
