Hawley, William, is the son of Aaron Hawley, for many years a prominent builder and contractor at Albany, N.
Y. William, born in New York city, September 30, 1819, and educated at Albany, came to Wolcott in 1834, and was
for a period of ten years engaged in the mercantile business at Red Creek. Afterwards adopting agriculture as his
principal vocation he has achieved a signal success, being one of the largest landholders of this locality, and
his farms are adorned with large and handsome buildings. In 1849 he married Sophia Hamilton, of Victory, Oayuga
county, and they have two sons, Aaron, born in 1850, and Charles H., born in 1857. Sophia Hawley died in 1863,
and Mr. Hawley's present wife was Miss Hannah Ward, of Wolcott. Mr. Hawley has been a steadfast Republican all
his lite.
