Aikin, John B., represents one of the pioneer families of the locality. His parents, John and Margaret (Young)
Aiken, came into Butler county sixty years ago, and their original domicile was a log house, a residence which,
however, seemed conducive to longevity, as they reached and adorned age. John B. acquired a good education during
the palmy days of the old academy at Red Creek, and upon the attainment of his majority became a tiller of the
soil. As commissioner of roads, and of excise, he has demonstrated public office to be a personal trust. In 1864
he married Josephine Wadsworth, of Butler, by whom he had two children, who died in infancy, and a son and daughter,
who remain: William J. and Nellie M.
