Townsend, Andrew J., was born in the town of Ithaca, March 15, 1843, and was educated in the district schools.
At the age of twenty one he married Mary, daughter of John Scott, by whom he had three sons and two daughters.
Mr. Townsend is Democratic in politics, and takes an active interest in educational matters, having been school
trustee for two years. He gives his attention chiefly to the milk business, handling about 120 quarts daily. He
has a farm of 120 acres, and raises large quantities of grain and hay. His father was born in the town of Ithaca
in 1815, and spent his life in this town, keeping a grocery store for a number of years.
